YouTube Innovates with AI-Personalized Video Feeds in the U.S.

YouTube recently announced the launch of an innovative new feature using artificial intelligence to create personalized video feeds. This new capability allows users to generate a custom content feed based on their interests, moods, or favorite topics. Once created, these feeds can be pinned to the top of the YouTube homepage, facilitating quick and regular access.

Currently, this feature is being rolled out to YouTube users in the United States, whether they are connected via the mobile app or on a computer. To use this feature, users must click on the "Your Personalized Feed" tab located at the top of the YouTube homepage and enter a description in the dedicated AI text box. For example, a user might ask the AI to "help me relax with guided meditations under 10 minutes" or "in-depth tech podcasts on AI," thus receiving a content feed perfectly tailored to these requests.

This approach is reminiscent of other AI-powered content personalization features, such as Spotify's suggested playlists. Similarly, Instagram has recently given its users more control over the algorithm of their Reels feed, although this relies on topic lists rather than descriptions.

YouTube emphasizes that descriptions can be modified at any time, allowing users to "generate a whole new space" by selecting the text box at the top of the personalized feed. To access the "Your Personalized Feed" tab, it is necessary for the search and viewing history to be enabled in the account settings. If the AI does not respond correctly to a request, users have the option to report the issue to YouTube via the three-dot menu in the feature tab, selecting "Something's wrong?" to leave a comment.
